  • Presently working as Professor in The Department of Folklore and Tribal Studies, Dravidian University and its Chairman of Board of Studies.
  • Born five decades ago (21 July 1957 original)  in Maralapadu village of Khammam district in a traditional sculptor’s (Viswakarma OBC) family with strong literary background.
  • He was a meritorious student in his school and colleges.
  • He passed his M.A in distinctions and got University first rank and conferred Gurajada Apparao Gold Medal for securing highest rank.
  • He got his M.A., M.Phil and Ph.D degrees from Osmania University
  • He did his research degrees in Folklore research areas.
  • His Ph.D., thesis on Caste Myths and Dependant Caste Systems was considered by the critics as a pioneering one in that area and opened a new vistas of folklore research. Now various researches are being carried their research in the subject of  caste myths and dependent castes.
  • Got selected in National Educational Test  (Master’s Level) conducted by U.G.C. and had been awarded J.R.F. for research.
  • He was Awarded “Ramaraju Janapada Vijnana Bahumati” (1991) for the book “Structural Study of Telugu Wonder Tale” a comparision of the theory of the Morphology of the Folk Tale with Sandhi Sandhyanga of Kavyasastra. (Janapada Adbhuta Khatha Nirmanam ) by Andhra Pradesh Folklore Academy. (A.P. Jnanapada Sahitya Parishat).
  • He was Trained in International Workshop Series on Folkloristics sponsored by the Ford Foundation. (1988 and 1989)
  • Trained in Folklore Fellows Summer School, organized by the Joensuu University. Finland during June – July 1995 and presented a paper there.
  • Conferred Associate Membership in Folklore Fellows International, in a ceremony at Mekrijarvi Research Station Joensuu University Finland, instituted by Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, Helsinki.
  • Worked as General Secretary: A.P. Janapada Sahitya Parishat (from – 1999- 2003)
  • He worked as part time lecturer with full workload for six years in the Department of Telugu Osmania University.
  • He worked as a researcher Post doctoral faculty fellow for 11 and half years in the Centre for Folk Culture Studies University Hyderabad.
  • He worked for two terms as Head in the Department of Folklore and Tribal Studies.
  • He credited more than 150 research papers in Telugu and English in various national and international journals and anthologies.
  • He presented 55 seminars in various states and chaired many sessions.
  • He published 11 books, 6 are on folklore alone and 4 are translated. He authored one Text book of folklore for M.A Telugu Students.
  • A true lover fieldwork, travelled in all districts of A.P to document various folk genres and many other South Indian villages
  • He is Member of Boards of Studies at University of Mysore and Mojoram University.
  • He has been recognized as a folklorist across India and as an Indian folklorist in other countries.
  • He discharged duties as  Dean Academic Affairs till May 2011 in Dravidian University.
  • His recent edited work is Encyclopedia of South Indian Folklore (Telugu Version) released into market. This is published by the Publications Division of Dravidian University.  Its English version is under process.
  • He is recently made as the Director for Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Dravidian University. 
  • He successfully supervised 5 M.Phil students (awarded) 1 Ph.D Student (awarded) one more Ph.D student submitted dissertation and results are awaited. Three students are about to submit dissertations.
  • He adjudicated 6 Ph.Ds of Telugu Literature Folklore, and Culture Studies of English Departments of various universities so far.
